Phew! What a relief. Today I had my embassy appointment and I'm thrilled to say that I've been approved! Luckily the little hole in my finger didn't effect my fingerprints being taken but I was a stressed mess on the inside leading up to the scanning of my fingers. When those lights went green and the officer said 'you're all sorted,' it was like winning $190 (as I didn't have to re-book :). |
The embassy visit was actually pretty simple and not much different from the first time I went. Funnily enough, the first time I went I bumped into two fellow cultural representatives behind me in the queue and the same thing happened this time (shoutout to Abbie and Hollie).
I tell you what, having that hotel booked literally next door to the embassy was an absolute God-send! Not only did I have a lovely evening updating Adam Does Disney, but I got Wagama's takeaway, had a king sized bed all to myself (granted I didn't sleep a lot due to worrying about the holey finger) and first thing this morning, it took me all of 3 minutes from leaving my room to being in the line for the embassy.
The embassy appointment itself is pretty boring so I won't go into it too much but if you'd like to know more about the process, visit the Visa advice page for all the details.
The officer that conducted my interview was as pleased to have me as I was to be there getting my visa. Apparently Q-1 visas aren't all that common as they're specific to Walt Disney World. He said that 'we all get excited when you folks are coming through as it's only about once a month.' Otherwise a rather uneventful embassy visit, no problems and I was in and out within an hour and 45 minutes.
There's a chance that I'll be revealing this blog and the fact that I'm going back tomorrow. The rumour mill is rife with my return (apparently) and since now having my visa, knowing Abbie and Hollie from my arrival group and such, there's not much point keeping it hush hush. If that's the case though I'll have to speak to my current employer tomorrow and let them know about Disney... Eeek.
Have a magical day!
